With the release of firmware 1.03 icons are now selectable in the menu system. there is no longer a need to manually edit the .spm files! 3 Cheers!!
Since the DX18 and the DX9 support importing files from the DX18QQ with all features, it is also possible to have all the other model avatars available on the DX18QQ.
All you have to do is add a line in the model file (.SPM) with a plain text editor (if you are using Windows, use Wordpad, not Notepad).
The model file looks like this:
<Spektrum> Generator="DX18" VCode=" 1.04D" ; Originator="......." PosIndex= 5 Type=Heli curveIndex= 7 enabXPLUS=Disabled Name="TREX 800"
You simply have to add one line:
<Spektrum> Generator="DX18" VCode=" 1.04D" ; Originator="......." PosIndex= 5 Type=Heli curveIndex= 7 enabXPLUS=Disabled modelImage= 1 Name="Agusta A109" </Spektrum> ..... There are currently 9 different acro avatars, 5 helis, 6 different sailplanes. The first image (0) is the default image, no need to change the file. All the other images require editing. Just add the number of the desired picture (I have named the files Acro0-Acro8, Heli0-Heli4, Sail0-Sail5). Of course you cannot have an acro pictu
re for a heli, but Acro8 is a Quad, and Sail5 is an acro.
When you import the SPM file back, make sure you rebind the model (rebinding is always necessary after an import)
So have fun pimping your DX9 !
And just a downside: If you export the model again, the changes are lost. You have to insert it again. This happens possibly with all modifications for features that are not available to the radio
